M.Y.B.L. Rules.
High school rules apply except for the following situations.
Games will consist of four, eight minute quarters with a running clock. The clock will stop for all free-throws throughout the game, and all whistles in the final two minutes of each half.
If a game is tied at the end of regulation, a three minute overtime period will be held with the clock stopping on each whistle. If a game remains tied following the overtime period, a sudden victory overtime will be played, with the first team to score declared the winner.
Each team is allowed 2 time outs per game. One additional time out will be available for each overtime period. Coaches calling time out with the intent to substitute players have the option to return to play immediately, essentially calling a five second time out, and charged for full time out.
All teams are required to play man-to-man defense. Players must defend a player, and not sag into an unoccupied area. First violation is a warning, each additional offence results in two free-throws and possession of the ball for the offensive team.
A ten second count will be made when the ball is held outside the three point arc. The ball must be advanced inside the arc. First violation is a warning, each additional offence results in two free-throws and possession of the ball for the defensive team.
All able players will play for a minimum of two full quarters(16 minutes).
All players must wear their team jerseys to be eligible to play in games. Teams must have five players to begin a game.
Practices may not exceed two hours per session. No more than two practices per week are allowed.
Parents are encouraged to cheer their team on, however coaching from the stands is forbidden and fans may be ejected for inappropriate behavior.
